Fay Johnson
Attorney
Originally from Chicago, Illinois, as a young girl, Fay Kathleen Johnson’s family relocated to rural Dorchester County, calling Harleyville, South Carolina their new home.
Fay graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Political Science. While enrolled at Carolina, Fay was the Assistant Chief Page for the South Carolina House of Representatives and received the Outstanding Page Award for her dedication and loyalty to the SC House of Representatives Members and Staff. After graduating Carolina, her dream was to attend law school. Before enrolling in law school, she wanted to know what working in a law office was like, so she pursued her Paralegal Certification at Midlands Technical Institute.
Her paralegal certification opened doors for her to work with various criminal and civil litigation attorneys throughout the state as their paralegal. She planned to attend law school but postponed her plans after her father and then her mother suffered serious health issues. She moved back home to help her parents for several years; her parents were very important people in her life so to her, they came first.
In 2016, she enrolled in Charleston School of Law and obtained her Juris Doctor in 2019. At graduation, the Charleston School of Law annually selects a limited number of graduates to become members of The Forensic Club. New members are selected based on demonstrated leadership, professionalism, public service and academic commitment. Fay was one of the few graduates named to receive this high honor. While in law school, she served as Vice President of the Student Bar Association and Treasurer of the Charleston School of Law Federal Bar Association. She was a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society, the Women in Law Society, the Trial Advocacy Board, and Resolved Law Review. Outside of the office, Fay enjoys Gamecock football, traveling, playing the piano and spending time with her yellow lab Alan Jackson, Jr..
