Lane devotes the majority of his time to helping injured people who are feeling overwhelmed by paperwork and medical bills, intimidated by aggressive insurance companies, or frustrated that no one wants to take responsibility for hurting them.
Drawing on practical knowledge earned during his two-decade background in business — as well as on his prior legal experiences as a business litigator with one of the largest law firms in South Carolina — Lane devotes the remainder of his time to helping owners of small and medium-sized businesses who are unsure of how to handle issues with employees, vendors, or customers; surprised to find themselves involved in a lawsuit; or wanting to plan a safe and legal path forward in their business so as to avoid legal trouble in the future.
Originally from Annapolis, Maryland, Lane has lived in the Carolinas for over thirty years. He graduated from St. Andrews Presbyterian College in 1990 with a B.A. in Business, and went on to earn a B.S. in Marine Biology from the College of Charleston, graduating summa cum laude. For the next twenty years Lane worked in business in Charleston and Charlotte — founding, growing, and ultimately selling several business in the marine and hospitality industries. He also had several go bust — so he knows the pitfalls of business as well!
Lane graduated summa cum laude from the Charleston School of Law where he served on the Charleston Law Review, the Trial Advocacy Board, and the Moot Court Board. As a member of the Moot Court Board Lane won top honors as Best Individual Oralist and Oral Argument (Team) Competition Winner at the National Tax Moot Court Competition in Clearwater Florida, then returned the following year to win the same honors again. Lane won the CALI Award for highest-grade-in-the-class fifteen times (an honor which, along with $4.75, will get you a coffee at Starbucks).
After law school Lane practiced in the Myrtle Beach office of one of the top corporate-law firms in South Carolina until joining the Law Office of Natasha M. Hanna to focus on helping people rather than large corporations. He is a founding member of the Coastal American Inn of Court, where he served as Treasurer from 2014 through 2016. Lane currently serves the Inn as Secretary. Lane joined the Law Office of Natasha M. Hanna in 2017, and he focuses his practice on personal injury, business litigation, and business planning and transactions.
Lane and his wife, attorney Kathleen Hearn, live in Conway with their two dogs and various cats. Lane attends St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Conway, and he devotes his spare time to eating too much, drinking too little, and doing almost anything that will get him outdoors.
